Bosch have been working on the connectivity features in their ToolBox App for quite a while. Let's have a look at the current features and the idea behind the connectivity of Simply Connected power tools.
Ways to connect
The new Bosch Simply Connected tools have the feature to connect to the Bosch ToolBox App on your smart phone where you can manage them (and much more) all from one place. Connection is achieved through the low energy Bluetooth connection via either the tool's built in connectivity or plug-in, GCY 30-4 connectivity module.

Managing your tools
Once connected the ToolBox App offers you a wide range of features to manage your tools such as:
- Monitoring a tool's motor status making it easier for you to adjust your usage, prevent overheating and making your tool last longer
- Monitoring battery life
- Adjusting a tool's work light afterglow setting to your personal preference
- Managing flood lights remotely
- Plus much more with new features being added…
With just a few taps in the Toolbox App, you can easily configure your tool based on your individual needs and save the settings for future tasks. The settings and features you can personalise and manage for each tool are different, naturally, and depend on specific tool's performance and features - for example, drills will have adjustable kick-back control setting and grinders a soft start setting.
The App will send you alerts and notifications about your tools and give you a full list of warnings on errors that might have occurred.
Security
Also connecting your tools to your ToolBox App gives you more security because it gives you the option to locate your tools via GPS and lock them remotely giving you one more level of protection from loosing your tools or theft.
