The charger communicates with the battery's built-in chip throughout the charging process to optimize battery life by actively controlling current, voltage, and temperature. In addition, the DC18RE is engineered to optimize battery life by actively controlling current, voltage, and temperature during charging. 

The DC18RE is a sequential charger and will charge one battery at a time.
