Why cable should only be cut using cable shears: Diagonal cutters are not ideal for cable cutting, because their blades meet at an obtuse angle. By contrast, the cable shears from Knipex cut using a scissors action. They are therefore excellent for shortening cables in house wiring work.
They professionally cut, for example, NYM-J 3x1.5 mm or NYM-J 5x2.5 mm and all other stranded and finely stranded Cu and Al cable up to 50 mm². Due to the nature of their cutting edges, the cable shears must not be used to cut hard wire, however.
