The Dremel SC544 is a 38 mm carbide-coated cutting wheel for slicing, cutting and shaping wood and laminate with a rotary multi-tool. The carbide coating is what makes it last: it holds an edge through hardwood, softwood, plywood, chipboard, fibreboard and veneered or laminated panels, where an uncoated wheel would dull quickly. It is a natural choice for short cuts in a wooden floor to make room for heating pipes or cabling, and for model making where you need a controlled cut rather than a saw. The wheel uses Dremel's patented EZ SpeedClic system, so changing accessories is a keyless pull-twist-release operation and around six times faster than working with a standard mandrel. Note it cuts on its edge only, it is not intended for metal, and it needs an SC402 EZ SpeedClic mandrel, which is sold separately.
