So earlier this year the Metabo KGS216M got a little refresh, normally the old saying goes if it isn’t broke don’t fix it, but when improvements are made to mobility, precision and performance surely it’s going to be a winner?
So here it is the top things you need to know about the Metabo KGS216M.
PORTABILITY
The saw weighs 13.5kg with a handle Metabo states is ideal for one-handed carrying, making this the ideal bit of kit to move around from job to job. Maybe not the first thing you consider when purchasing a new mitre saw, but nevertheless Metabo has you covered.
PERFORAMCE
The KGS216M benefits from a powerful 1500w motor (450w more than similar saw models such as the Hitachi C8FSE) with a revolution speed of 5000rpm and 3750rpm at a rated load.
With impressive specifications such as;
- Maximum cutting width 90°/45°: 305 mm/205 mm
- Maximum cutting depth at 90°/45°: 65 mm/36 mm
- Maximum cross-section of the workpiece
- Straight cut 90°/90°: 305 x 65 mm
- Double mitre 45°/45°: 205 x 36 mm
FEATURES
The KGS216M showcases clearly marked buttons and knobs, the red signifies anything that maybe be a feature or benefit to the user, for example the transportation lock.
The infinitely extendable table width supports, these are removable which is ideal when working with long pieces of wood such as decking.These are positioned on the left and right and include a length stop.

ACCURACY
When the red slide release screws are undone this enables the dual rail slides to slide forward of up to 305mm, rolling on precision roller bearings this allows a smooth sliding action. All assisting with improved precision and in turn accuracy to cuts.
The laser has been repositioned on the 2015 KGS216M to assist again with accuracy and the 3 spot LED job light is controlled via red buttons located on the operating handle, powered by mains it ensures accuracy at all times. Located at the front of the saw blade and away from dust it ensures you will be able to see your workpiece clearly and work efficiently.
The table is machined out of die cast iron, rigid and robust, the table can be turned 47º left and right by engaging the red switch on the handle, all assisting with accuracy and precision.
DUST EXTRACTION
We all know the importance of good dust extraction and the updated KGS216M is no exception, now featuring an improved dust scoop which feeds into the dust extraction port. The scoop assists in the debris into the extraction port helping to prevent dust blowing all over the workpiece and yourself.
